THIS image of 10 feet sprinkled in sand on a hot May evening has been crowned as The Journal’s Picture of the Week.
Maria Smith, who lives in Kirkley Run, Lowestoft, had taken her four children to the beach to enjoy an evening in the warm weather last month.

Being a regular entrant to our competition, she took her camera along with her and managed to snap a number of great photos as they enjoyed an evening of tennis and badminton on the beach.

“At about 5pm I thought we’d go up to the beach for tea. It was just the perfect day - a lovely evening as we made the most of the beach,” she said.

This image of her feet together with those of her three daughters and son has seen her take the top prize for the first time.

The feet line-up (left to right) reads Charday, aged seven, Cayleb, four, Maria, Crystal, 12, and Samantha, 10.

Maria will be presented with her photograph in a 12in x 10in frame, mounted and inscribed, in a prize worth more than £60 from Picture Studios, of London Road North, Lowestoft.

Her photo will also go forward to the next final of winning images where she will have the opportunity to win the image in a printed 12in x 18in photo block worth £130.
