Felix hockey girls battle it out
05 March 2010
NINE Saint Felix School senior girls went to Kirkley High School for the annual Lowestoft and Beccles U16 hockey tournament.
As teams gathered, the Southwold side focused their minds with a thorough warm-up led by team captain Emily Rushmere.
Seven teams competed. Saint Felix won three and drew three games, narrowly missing out on medal positions, finishing in third place.
Team member Imogen Wiltshire said: "In our last match against Bungay High School, the eventual winners, we really came together as a team. We communicated and passed well, with some amazing play by Chloe Stewart up front.
"Although we would have
liked to have won first place,
we should be happy with our performance."
Director of sport at Saint Felix, Georgina Kingstone, added: "There was a reasonable standard of hockey played across all teams and each school clearly contained a number of club players.
"It's fantastic to see students take up sporting opportunities in their local area, and it really makes all the difference."
