The swinging sixties was celebrated in style at a care home.

Staff and residents at Oulton Park Care Centre enjoyed "a fun filled day" as a 1960s themed event was successfully held.

A memorable milestone was marked at the Barchester Healthcare nursing home on Union Lane, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft as a 1960s dress up day was enjoyed - and twin sisters were reunited.

Family and friends of Joan Kirton - a resident at Oulton Park - turned out, including her identical twin sister Pat, as "a big 1960s party" marked their 98th birthdays.

A spokesman for the care home said: "The home held a combined 1960s themed birthday party for Joan and her sister Pat.

"They enjoyed a birthday lunch with their family and friends.

"In the afternoon everyone enjoyed an amazing live performance from Jonny Laff with 1960s fancy dress, dancing and great fun had by all.

"We would like to wish Joan and Pat a big happy birthday - we hope they enjoyed the day with us at Oulton Park."

Joan has been a resident at Oulton Park for a year, with Pat often visiting her at the home.

With the sisters having grown up in London, Pat Kirton said: “It’s lovely to see everybody, it has been wonderful.

"Who would have thought we would make it to 98 - isn’t that amazing, I’m shocked."

The Oulton Park Care Centre spokesman added: "It was wonderful to be able to celebrate this occasion with Joan and her sister Pat.

"It was a great afternoon, filled with great music and even better company."
