Voters will return to the polls again next week as 10 candidates will contest two by-elections for seats on Waveney District Council.

The elections of a district councillor for the Kirkley and St Margarets wards are being held following the resignations of Labour councillors Steve Logan and Louise Harris-Logan last month. Mr Logan and Mrs Harris-Logan both cited work reasons for their decisions,

Standing for the Kirkley ward, Peter Byatt is the Labour Party candidate, Gilly Gunner has been selected as the Conservative candidate, Dominic Leslie is standing for the Liberal Democrats, Phillip Trindall for the UK Independence Party (UKIP) and Ben Quail for the Green Party.

For the St Margarets ward, Nasima Begum is the Labour Party candidate, Linda Coulam has been selected as the Conservative candidate, Shaun Waters is standing for the Liberal Democrats, Bernie Guymer for the UK Independence Party (UKIP) and Baz Bemment for the Green Party.

The polls will take place next Thursday, November 16 between the hours of 7am and 10pm.

With one district councillor to be elected in each ward, the polling stations for Kirkley residents will be at the Salvation Army Church and Community Centre in Carlton Road, St Peters Church Hall in St Peters Road and Waveney Gymnastics Club in Notley Road.

The polling stations for St Margarets residents are at Benjamin Britten Academy in Blyford Road, Gunton residents meeting hall in Hollingsworth Road and Oulton Community Centre in Meadow Road.
