A Suffolk chef who was convicted by a jury of downloading indecent images of children has now admitted he was responsible for the offences, a court has heard.

Since his trial Paul Dunn accepted he had tried to “pull the wool over the jury’s eyes” his barrister Andrew Thompson told Ipswich Crown Court today (Monday).

Dunn, 33, of Spashett Road, Lowestoft, was found guilty of three offences of making indecent images of children and possessing 96 prohibited images of children last month after denying the charges.

He was given a 12 month prison sentence suspended for two years, 150 hours unpaid work and ordered to attend a sex offenders’ treatment programme and a rehabilitation requirement.

He was also given a sexual harm prevention order and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for ten years.

When Dunn’s phone and computer equipment were analysed in 2016 they contained 56 indecent images of children in the most serious level A category, 67 level B images and 201 level C images.

Mr Thompson said that since accepting he had committed the offences, Dunn, who has no previous convictions, had sought help for his problems.
