Speaking on tonight’s One Show on BBC1, he told presenters Ore Oduba and Alex Jones that his grandfather was born in Lowestoft.

After being shown a photo of himself and his three siblings at his grandfather’s 80th birthday party, he said: “He was born in Lowestoft, moved to Sunderland and eventually to London and was a solicitor in Ealing.

“He was known as the poor man’s lawyer. I learnt a lot from him.”

Mr Corbyn’s solo appearance followed last week’s One Show appearance by Prime Minister Theresa May and her husband Philip.
