A man, who allegedly had more than 300 indecent images of children on his mobile phone and computer equipment, told police he wasn’t responsible for downloading them, a court has heard.

Police officers went to a property in Spashett Road, Lowestoft, where Paul Dunn was living with his mother in March 2016 and seized two laptop computers, an external hard drive and a mobile telephone, Ipswich Crown Court was told.

When the equipment was analysed it was found to contain 55 indecent images of children in the most serious level A category, 66 level B images and 193 level C images.

Wayne Cleaver, prosecuting, said there were also 96 prohibited images of children.

Dunn, 33, of Spashett Road, has denied four offences of making indecent images of children on or before March 18, 2016, and one offence of possessing prohibited images of children.

Mr Cleaver said Dunn told police a former lodger had access to his computer equipment and he claimed he had been given the phone by someone else.

He denied being responsible for any of the indecent images of children found.

The trial continues.
