A Lowestoft man who lost his temper when he saw his partner texting a friend and threw her to the floor causing a fractured wrist has been given a suspended prison sentence.

David Payne grabbed his partner by her upper arms and threw her down causing her to hit her head and wrist, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

At the time of the incident in 2013, the victim told hospital staff she injured her wrist by punching a wall, but made a complaint to police last year after Payne grabbed her round the neck and pushed her into the front door. Payne, 32, of Bevan Street West, Lowestoft, admitted two offences of common assault in 2013 and March last year and was given a six-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

He was also given a 30-day rehabilitation requirement and 80 hours unpaid work.

Matthew Sorel-Cameron, for Payne, said his client has been having counselling.
