A number of court cases, including a man who was charged with murder following a stabbing in Lowestoft, were moved or adjourned following problems with the toilets at Norwich Magistrates Court.

Stephen Butcher, 23, of Ashfield Crescent, Lowestoft, had been due to appear having been charged with the murder of Scotty Tarrant.

Mr Tarrant, 28, died after he suffered stab injuries at a home in Underwood Close on Saturday night.

But Butcher’s case was held at Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court instead after it was transferred following an issue with the toilets at the city courts.

The majority of cases due to be heard on Tuesday morning (July 10) were adjourned and will be rescheduled.

An HMCTS spokesman said: “Engineers have now fixed the issue with the toilet facilities at Norwich Magistrates Court and the Court will run as normal this afternoon.”
