A man who was arrested after causing a disturbance during a comedy show in Lowestoft has been charged by police.

The incident happened during Paul Chowdhry’s ‘Live Innit’ show at the Marina Theatre last night.

Police were called at around 9.20pm to reports that a man was causing a disturbance and was refusing to leave.

Officers attended and arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the incident and he was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

James Gallagher, of Gorse Green, Lowestoft, has subsequently been charged with two offences: using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress; and resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.

He has been bailed to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 6.

A spokesman for the Marina Theatre said: “During Paul Chowdhry’s ‘Live Innit’ show, we received complaints from members of our audience that a gentleman was being disruptive during the performance.

“After a warning from our duty manager, the gentleman was then asked to leave the auditorium.

“Our team, who are trained to deal with any incidents of this nature, then called the police for further assistance.

“Thankfully, we don’t see many incidents like this at the Marina Theatre, and we do not condone such behaviour at any time.”
