Aaron Bond, who had lived in All Saints Road, Pakefield, was driving a pick-up truck which collided head on with a heavy goods vehicle.

The 31-year-old, who was born in Great Yarmouth, was pronounced dead at the scene on February 25.

Nicholas Holroyd, assistant coroner for Norfolk, said: “It appears that the deceased had for some unknown reason drifted onto the opposite carriageway and collided with an HGV coming the opposite way.

“Another HGV then collided with the first.”

The body of Mr Bond was formally identified by his father Andrew at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital on March 2.

An initial post-mortem report revealed that Mr Bond died of multiple severe injuries as a result of a road traffic collision.

Emergency services had been called to the A149 between Catfield and Potter Heigham in Norfolk just after 3pm on February 25.

A Nissan pick-up truck, an articulated lorry and a DAF lorry were involved in the crash.

The male driver of the DAF lorry, aged in his 40s, suffered serious leg injuries and was flown by the East Anglian Air Ambulance to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Ambulance crews treated the male driver of the articulated lorry at the scene for shock.

The inquest into the death of Mr Bond was adjourned for a full hearing on September 9.
