Two tumour patients, a disability charity and a baby project were among the good causes to benefit from an energy firm’s generosity.

Off shore company Sembmarine SLP recently held its latest charity awards, which saw it split £18,000 between 14 varying causes.

Nominated by the company’s employees, contractors and clients, each cause received a chunk of the funds, with a wide variety of recipients chosen.

Among those selected were Waveney Sailability, which helps people with disabilities take part in sailing and Baby Basics, which offers support to new mothers and families.

There were also donations for Amber’s Smile, an appeal to support seven-year-old tumour patient Amber Gooch-Boags and 18-year-old Hannah Coffill, who lost her sight as a result of a brain tumour on her optic nerve, and Hemsby-based animal rescue centre Foxy Lodge.

Paul Thompson, Sembmarine managing director, said: “It is always a great pleasure to be able to serve the community.”
