Norfolk Police are urging drivers to take care on Norfolk’s roads today following the appearance of thick fog.

Although the roads are clear at the moment a spokesman for Norfolk Police advised motorists to be alert.

He said: “It may be quiet at the moment but it could get busier in a little bit so do take caution.

“Put your lights on, slow down and drive to the conditions of the road.”

The fog is expected to linger early this morning and should clear out within a few hours. However it may remain along the north Norfolk coast for most of the day.

Meteorologist Jim Bacon, managing director of Norwich-based Weatherquest, said: “It’s a feature of the weather in the autumn months and it happens when things cool down over night.

“We’ve got light winds and widespread fog across East Anglia, and it’s all the way up the east coast up to Scotland. It will gradually thin out and go away and we will see the sun coming through.”
