A familiar face at Blundeston Primary School will be stepping into the headteacher role next year.

Helen Laflin has been deputy headteacher at the school for the past five years and was instrumental in achieving its ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating for the early years provision.

She takes up the post in September 2018, taking over from current headteacher Kate Schonhut, who retires at the end of this school year after 17 years.

Miss Laflin said: “I am looking forward to taking up my new post. I am fortunate to know the school well and can hit the ground running.

“I have a really good understanding of the school’s values and aims and a fabulous team with whom I can work with to build on the current success of the school.”

Jane Liddell, chairman of governors, added: “We had a high calibre of candidates apply and, after a rigorous interview process, the governors came to the unanimous decision to offer Helen the post.”

“She will be the aspirational and innovative leader to head up our committed team of staff. Together they will continue to offer all pupils an exceptional learning experience and move the school on to the next level.”
