Detectives are continuing to investigate following the death of the woman who is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be in her late 40s.

Officers were called shortly before 2.30pm on Saturday (July 29), following reports for the concern for the safety of a woman at a property in Godric Place, off Bowthorpe Road. Upon arrival, the body of a woman was discovered inside a flat.

Enquiries led officers to an address in Windsor Road in Lowestoft, and three people, two men and a woman, were arrested in connection with the incident.

The woman has subsequently been released under investigation whilst the enquiry continues and the two men remain in custody at this stage.

It is believed the victim and one of the men arrested were known to each other.

A seal remains in place at the scene in Norwich and Lowestoft and officers will be carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the local area today and tomorrow.

Forensic officers have been working at the scene while Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) stand guard outside.

A Home Office post mortem examination carried out concluded that while the cause of death is still pending further investigations, the victim, who is yet to be identified, appears to have been subjected to a sustained assault.

A/Detective Inspector Neil Stewart, who is leading the enquiry, said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and working to establish the sequence of events which led to this woman’s death. “There are a significant number of lines of enquiry which we will continue to pursue over the coming days which will include house to house enquiries in the local area.”
