A teenager has been charged after an attack which saw a man slashed across the neck with a knife.

Police were alerted by the ambulance service at 1.24am yesterday (August 9) morning, following reports that a man had received a knife wound to his neck on Nelson Road North in Great Yarmouth.

Following a search of the scene, a man was arrested in connection with the incident. Donatas Jasmontas, 19, was subsequently charged with GBH and with being in possession of a knife in a public place.

The victim, who had received a slash wound to his neck, required hospital treatment but has since been discharged.

Jasmontas, of Regent Road in Great Yarmouth, appeared at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court today, and has been remanded in custody to appear at Norwich Crown Court on Friday, September 7.

Police are not currently linking the attack to any of the other recent stabbings in the town.
