Teenager locked up after stealing jewellery from Lowestoft home

A 19-year-old man who stole jewellery from the home of a retired Suffolk woman has been sentenced to two years youth detention.

The victim and her husband left their home in Normanston Drive in Lowestoft at around 9.45 am on March 19 and returned an hour later to find double patio doors in the property had been smashed, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Michael Crimp, prosecuting said that jewellery of sentimental value had been stolen during the burglary, including items belonging to the victim’s mother.

Before the court was Tayler Gee, of Lucerne Close in Lowestoft, who admitted burglary and was sentenced to two years detention in a young offenders’ institution.

Gee was arrested on Wednesday, July 24, following enquiries in connection with the burglary.
