The discussions over planned third crossings in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft look to be finally reaching the point of no return.

After Suffolk County Council’s cabinet approved plans for an extra £8m in their budget for Lowestoft’s third crossing at Lake Lothing last month, and Great Yarmouth’s bridge successfully gaining the necessary £98m funding from the government at the budget in November 2017, the bridges are well on their way to becoming reality.

Norfolk County Council have said construction will start in 2020, with 5,000 jobs and £150m a year added to the economy by 2025, with the bridge possibly open by 2022.

In Lowestoft, Suffolk County Council are also targeting a 2022 completion date for the Lake Lothing crossing, with construction hoped to start in late 2019/early 2020.

The plans come after decades of promises for both towns, but which bridge do you think will be finished first? Take our poll, and have your say.
