Officials at Lowestoft Town FC have bolstered the squad with an important signing.

Blues boss Jamie Godbold has moved swiftly to capture a familiar face - with dominant defender Harry Knights making a welcome return to the club.

The 23-year-old joined Needham Market in August after impressing for Lowestoft in the 2021-22 campaign, having signed from Leiston.

Now he will be back in a blue shirt, and joined the squad for the Pitching In Isthmian League North division match between third placed Lowestoft and second placed Hashtag on Saturday - coming on at half time during the 0-2 defeat.

Delighted Blues boss Jamie Godbold said: "We have now confirmed a new signing.

"Knightsy is our player and we're delighted to have him back.

"I never wanted him to leave (before the start of the new season), but he wanted to play at a higher level.

"But having found game time difficult, we've taken advantage of that and we welcome him back with open arms.

"Knightsy was terrific for us during the second half of last season and he formed a great partnership with Travis.

"The form Travis is in, to have Knightsy back there then that is potentially a great partnership - if Sam or Dylan allow him back into the team!

"Both Dylan and Nunny have been great for us, and now this definitely leaves us with some really tough decisions having that quality in central defence.

"The squad is in a really healthy position now and with this defensive signing it is important as it was an area where we have found ourselves short at times.

"So yes, we're in an all-round really healthy position with Harry being a permanent signing, who is now registered to us once more and available for selection."
