It's just over a week until the new Pitching In Isthmian League north division season kicks off, with Lowestoft Town stepping up last minute preparations.

The Trawlerboys will conclude their pre-season programme this Saturday, August 5 as all roads lead to the Foster's Solicitors Community Stadium.

Jamie Godbold's men will host Pitching In Isthmian League premier division side Canvey Island, 3pm kick off, in an eagerly awaited home friendly clash.

The new season kicks off on August 12, with Lowestoft on their travels for their first two competitive games.

They are away to Basildon in the Pitching In Isthmian League north division on the opening day, before visiting Corby Town in the Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round on Saturday, August 19.

Lowestoft will host Maldon and Tiptree on Saturday, August 26 at the Foster's Solicitors Community Stadium, before an eagerly-awaited east coast derby against Gorleston on Monday, August 28 at the Wellesley.

In a fine pre-season performance last Saturday, Jake Reed continued his excellent goalscoring form by hitting both goals in an entertaining 2-2 away draw at Suffolk rivals Leiston.

The Southern League Premier Division Central side took a 24th minute lead through Loza, but a quickfire double before and just after the interval from  Reed (38 and 47 minutes) made it 1-2.

Keller equalised in the 56th minute and it ended 2-2 in what was Lowestoft's toughest game of pre season thus far.

Godbold said: "We have arranged a home game for our final pre-season match against Canvey Island and that will be another great test for us.

"We are really pleased with where we are at currently."

It means The Trawlerboys have won three friendly games, drawn two friendlies and lost one match since the pre-season campaign kicked off on July 8.

The draw for the second round of this season's Endeavour Automotive Suffolk Premier Cup was made this week, with Lowestoft hosting Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side Walsham-le-Willows in a midweek tie to be played before September 27.
