Grant Holt underlined his value to the Canaries with a watching brief in last weekend’s FA Cup fifth round exit to Leicester.

The captain’s 11 goals in 26 appearances are a more than decent top flight return to date.

Holt will relish a potential match-up with the one-time England star.

Age has forced Ferdinand to modify his game in recent times, but he is still a class act.
