Lowestoft Town boss Ady Gallagher is delighted to have an extra option at his disposal as he prepares for two tough away matches in the space of three days in the Ryman Premier Division.

The Trawlerboys visit Harrow Borough this afternoon (3pm) and then travel across Suffolk to take on Sudbury on Monday and there is every chance Gallagher will be making full use of his squad for the demands of a testing schedule.

That is likely to mean a first chance to impress for new signing Aristote Amisi Kameneno, who was an unused substitute on Monday as Lowestoft turned in an excellent performance to beat high-flying neighbours Leiston 3-2.

“We are delighted to have Ari on board,” said Gallagher of a player who spent five years with Nottingham Forest’s youth set-up before being released and is still only 22. “When we heard he was living in the area and hadn’t played football for a year we got in touch and he was keen to join us.

“I think it hit him hard when he was released by Forest but he now wants to play again and this gives him a chance to show what he can do. Hopefully it will be a good move for him and a good move for us too. He is a talented boy, with an excellent left foot and his arrival gives us another option, which is important because our squad isn’t the biggest.

“We’ll give it a month, six weeks and see how it goes. He obviously has some work to do on his fitness after so long out, but with two games coming up in three days there is every chance he will be involved.

“That goes for all the squad because I think it’s very unlikely that I will be putting out the same starting XI for both matches.”

Lowestoft go into today’s game at fifth-from-bottom Harrow in good heart after the win against Leiston that maintained an encouraging run of 10 points from a possible 15.

“It was a very good performance from start to finish and 3-2 really didn’t tell the story,” said Gallagher, who has named an unchanged squad for the forthcoming double header.

“We should have won comfortably but the main thing is that we took the three points and showed what we are capable of in front of a good sized crowd (725). That’s how we have played in most games recently and now it’s important we maintain those standards.”
