Lowestoft Town have signed Ben Dudzinski on a one-year deal following his release by Hartlepool Town.

The Trawlerboys snapped up the 21-year-old after letting Jake Jessup and Jamie Waite leave the club this summer.

It left manager Ady Gallagher with no goalkeeper on his books ahead of the new season but the Blues chief is delighted with the capture of Dudzinski. “He’s a very ambitious lad and wants to push himself as much as he can,” said Gallagher. “He had chances to join clubs higher than us but knows what we can offer in the way of development. We’ve shown in the last couple of years that we can really help bring young footballers on here and that’s what we will look to continue doing.”

Dudzinski turned professional with Hartlepool in the summer of 2016 after impressing during spells at Tow Law Town, Durham City and Ashington Town. He also went out on loan at National League North side Darlington.

This was a clear battle between the exuberant youth and pace of Southwold and the canny experience of the older and bigger Crusaders team, who, despite the scoreline, put the hosts under great pressure several times in the game.

Prior to this first ever meeting between the teams they were separated by goal difference only, so it is no surprise they cancelled each other out and settled for a point each.
