Lowestoft Town joint boss Ady Gallagher insists his squad has the firepower to survive in the Vanarama Conference North.

After a promising start to their campaign, the Trawlerboys have stuttered recently as they tumbled out of the FA Cup last weekend with defeat to Tamworth.

Despite the Blues also suffering three consecutive defeats in the league, scoring just once in the process, Gallagher insists the goals will start to flow again soon.

“We have got goal-scorers in this side but this is a very tough league and when the chances come along then you’ve got to take them,” said Gallagher, whose side take on Oxford City at Crown Meadow this afternoon.

“We could do with a bit of luck in front of goal but we could also do with a bit of luck with injuries,” said Gallagher.

“If we had a full squad to pick from then I would be worried, but that’s not the case.

“We know there are goals in the squad and I remember when we had a spell like this last season and it did not prevent us from being promoted.

“As a group we will come good again – we just need to get everyone fit and available.”

Dan Gleeson suffered another injury setback during the Blues’ Suffolk Premier Cup victory over Ipswich Wanderers on Wednesday – Town winning 2-1 with goals from Dawid Radomski and Jefferson Louis.

The Lowestoft skipper pulled up with the hamstring problem that has plagued his campaign so far but a number of other first-team regulars are also doubts for this afternoon.

Rossi Jarvis (hamstring), Ashlee Jones (hamstring), and Curtis Haynes-Brown (back) are all struggling whilst Chris Henderson (groin), Andrew Fisk (ankle) and Sam Gaughran (ankle) are all also carrying knocks.

Gallagher is looking forward to the day he and the rest of the management team have a fully fit squad to pick from. He insists that day is hopefully not too far away.

“No one has got a major injury which is obviously a blessing but when they all come at once then they leave you stretched,” he said.

“But the players we have brought in are impressing. David Zielonka did well the other night and it was good for Dawid Radomski to also find the net. They can be very useful members to the squad.

“We are looking to add to the squad and hopefully he will be fit and available.”

Jake Reed is expected to lead the line for the Blues with Louis, Shaun Bammant, and Bradley Woods-Garness all vying to be the former Sudbury man’s partner.
