Thirteen members of Yarmouth and Lowestoft K9 Gym Kickboxing Club travelled to Ipswich for the 2012 NAK National Semi-Contact Kickboxing Championships, with seven of them returning as national champions.

Lowestoft’s Carlos Regini Moran (12) won the -30 kilo junior boys gold medal. He has now won six titles in the last three years.

Lowestoft’s Shanice Baker (9) won the -30 kilo junior girls gold medal, her first national honours.

Yarmouth’s Chiara Spink (12) won the -35 kilo junior girls gold medal, also her first national honours.

Yarmouth’s Tia Sayer (12) won the -40 kilo junior girls gold medal, beating last year’s champion who was far more experienced than her.

Yarmouth’s Cam McGarrigle (16) won the -65 kilo kadet boys’ gold medal, his fourth championship.

Yarmouth’s Travis Manning (12) won the -40 kilo junior boys’ gold medal, his 5th title and Travis’ mum, Lisa Manning (37) won the over 35s -70 kilos ladies’ gold medal, a great win for the hard-working mum of four. The K9 Gym won more gold medals than any other attending clubs for the 3rd year running.

Lowestoft’s Imogen Casey (12), Lowestoft’s Hadley Neller (7), both achieved excellent silver medals, with Lowestoft’s Luca McComb (10) and Yarmouth’s Nicky McHugh (10) both getting hard earned bronze medals. Remy Sayer (10) and Seb Havens (14) both put in good performances, just missing out on medals.

It was a great day for the Estcourt Road-based Gym. Junior training is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (from 6.15) and Saturdays (1-3pm).
