Top scorer Matt Blake was the late hero for Thurlow Nunn Premier Division leaders Norwich United at Walsham le Willows.

The striker scored in the 98th minute to snatch a 1-0 win in Suffolk and keep the Planters 10 points clear at the top of the division.

Walsham striker Jack Brame suffered a nasty injury in the second half, which would later be confirmed as a fractured leg, leading to the added time at the end of the match.

Blake stayed sharp to grab the winner though, scoring his 33rd goal from 35 games this season.

The only man with more goals than Blake in the Eastern Counties top flight is Tom Meechan of second-placed Godmanchester Rovers, who scored twice in a 4-2 home win against struggling Diss Town, to take his tally to 39 goals in 33 matches.

With Ely City not having a game, Diss remain four points clear of the bottom of the table, although Ely have three games in hand.

Thetford Town put some welcome distance between themselves and the relegation scrap with a 1-0 home win against Ipswich Wanderers.

Striker James Dean scored the vital goal in the 55th minute to end a four-match losing streak and equal the amount of points Mark Scott’s side managed last season, 30, with 11 matches remaining.

Fakenham scored a late winner at Whitton United to earn a 3-2 win. Robbie Harris had sent the Ghosts into half-time with a 1-0 lead but the hosts equalised in the 51st minute.

Substitutes Sam Garner then restored the lead from a Harris cross in the 70th minute only for the hosts to level again eight minutes later.

Garner had the final word though, set up by Harris again in the 89th minute to snatch the victory.

Elsewhere Kirkley and Pakefield lost 2-1 at home to Hadleigh, after being 1-0 up at the break (Ross Gilfedder) while Gorleston lost 4-0 at Brantham.

There was a big Norfolk derby in the First Division, with Swaffham held to a 0-0 draw in their rearranged fixture at Great Yarmouth Town.

The fourth-placed Pedlars had to work hard to grind out a draw to remain level on points with their hosts.

Yarmouth had the best opportunity to win the game. After being awarded a penalty for handball in the 14th minute, keeper Josh Barnes denied Connor Deeks the goal with a superb save to his left-hand side, scooping the ball round the post to safety.

First-half efforts by Mark Allibone, narrowly missing the target, and Matthew Prudence, coming off second best to the Yarmouth keeper, provided the only threatening goalmouth action for the visitors.

The second half was more of a battle, with Barnes performing well for the visitors to keep the score at 0-0.

Another derby saw Downham win 3-1 at home against Dereham Reserves, thanks to goals from Mark Smith, Karl Tansley and Sam Low.
