Waveney Folk Club will host Lowestoft’s own John Ward at a concert later this month.

The club, which has been running for more than 45 years in the region, is where the folk musician started playing his own songs on his own more than 30 years ago, before he turned to touring the rest of the UK and abroad.

On Friday, April 20, he will be bringing his full four-piece band, including Les Woodley on double bass and mandolin, Lynne Ward on whistles and accordion, and renowned guitarist Stephen Mynott, all of whom will also add extra vocals for the three and four-part harmonies for which they have become acclaimed.

A spokesman said: “Joining them on the night will be John’s long standing musical partner, exceptional violinist Mario Price. Expect a night of rousing original songs, traditional tunes and a few musical surprises.”

Tickets are £6 on the door, with doors opening at 7.30pm at Hollingworth Road Community Hall, Lowestoft.
