The Rogues Shanty Crew will be appearing at the annual Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival this weekend.

The group, who hail from Lowestoft, perform and revitalise the music and heritage that the fishing industry of the town and its workers created.

The group started as a result of a project which aimed to revive forgotten music about the sea in order to form a choir that both men and women and any age could enjoy. The choir has gone from strength to strength and has a membership of almost 70 people, ranging in age from 17 to 89. Led under the musical direction of brothers Stephen and Paul Amer, the group has appeared at weddings, corporate events and holiday parks as well as Jimmy’s Farm Festival and the Cambridge Folk Festival. The group will be appearing

on both days at the Maritime Festival, which runs between 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, September 9-10. To find out more about the group visit
