Scores of swimmers will take the plunge as a festive tradition returns.

People will be braving the chilly temperatures to take part in a festive dip in the North Sea at Southwold this weekend.

An array of festive costumes will take centre stage in Southwold as swimmers take part in the annual Southwold Christmas Day charity swim.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Southwold and District, the annual event starts at 10.30am on Christmas Day - Sunday - as the crowds gather near to Southwold beach at Gun Hill to cheer on the swimmers.

The cost of registration is £8 per swimmer if paid in advance, or £10 on the day.

Monies raised from this year's swim - which is sponsored by Ninedeli of Southwold - will be split between three charities.

These are Southwold RNLI, the East Anglian Air Ambulance and the Southwold Klondyke Skateboard Park Project.

All swimmers must be aged 16 years or over to take part.

A spokesman said: "Come and support this event."

By registering, you will be covered by the Rotary insurance policy and receive a wristband which you can exchange for a medal at the end of the swim.
