A bereaved mother who was in remission from cancer for almost two decades before it returned, has died aged 63.

Christine Turner raised £7,000 for Cancer Research UK following the death of her 23-year-old daughter in 2012.

Mrs Turner, of Pakefield, completed a gruelling 250-mile walk over two weeks in 2013 in memory of Emily who died from an aggressive form of lung cancer.

And while she remained passionate about raising awareness of cancer in young people, she also faced her own journey with breast cancer.

First diagnosed during her forties, she had been in remission before being told her breast cancer had returned and it was incurable. Four years later, in 2022, she was told she had lung cancer too.

But she remained positive in the face of the unknown, daughter Vicki Turner explained.

"She was extremely courageous and very driven," she said. "She was a fighter.

"She was one of the most inspirational people I’ve ever known and I was so proud to have her as my mum.

“She was very loved by a lot of people and would always be looking out for everyone else. She was incredible.”
