2019 was a year which saw a number of store closures, with some well known names disappearing from the shopping scene.
However there was good news with the opening in Lowestoft of a new operations and maintenance base for East Anglia's largest offshore windfarm and a state-of-the-art energy training centre at East Coast College.
JANUARY
January 11 - High tide damage was caused to beach huts temporarily placed on the sand.
FEBRUARY
February 22 - A seaside caravan park moved caravans from a cliff edge following a period of severe coastal erosion.
MARCH
March 15 - The first Community Fridge in Suffolk was launched at St Andrews Church in Roman Road.
APRIL
April 5 - Two councils merged into one to form the new East Suffolk Council authority.
MAY
May 10 and 31 - The inaugural East Suffolk Council elections saw the Conservatives win control, while in the European elections June Mummery was elected MEP.
JUNE
June 28 - Thousands of revellers attended the First Light Festival to celebrate the seafront summer Solstice.
JULY
July 5 - Staff and students from Ormiston Denes Academy hit the red carpet in London as they attended the premiere of 'Yesterday'.
AUGUST
August 9 - Gateway Retail Park opens but fears were raised the layout is an accident waiting to happen.
SEPTEMBER
September 27 - The Heritage Open Day events attracted more than 15,000 visits in Lowestoft.
OCTOBER
October 11 - Homes on Aldwyck Way were evacuated when heavy floods struck.
NOVEMBER
November 15 - Traffic gridlock hit the town after a 'technical fault' caused the Bascule Bridge to fail.
DECEMBER
December 20 - A General Election saw Peter Aldous voted in as Waveney MP once more.
