It has been a week of celebration where a special series of events have been running across parts of the country.
And one Lowestoft-area primary school was in for a treat this week – as part of the community initiative.
Pupils and staff at Pakefield Primary School were surprised with a visit from Essex & Suffolk Water employees, who are based at Trinity House in Lowestoft on Tuesday.
But the curious looks on the staff and pupils' faces soon turned into smiles, as the unexpected visit led to a special treat – with £1,000 presented to the school in London Road.
It was all part of a series of different surprises that have been planned for each day in different locations all across the North East and the Essex and Suffolk areas in which Essex & Suffolk Water serve.
A spokesman for the water company said: 'We have a special series of days running for Customer Service Week (October 2 to October 8) and to celebrate we're surprising our customers and employees with special treats and presents. We've been to Pakefield Primary School to hand over a donation of £1,000 to help buy new curtains for the school hall.'
Claire Sharp, Essex & Suffolk Water's customer service director, said: 'Make My Day is all about giving something back to our customers and putting a smile on people's faces.
'It's just one of the ways we are surprising and delighting our customers during National Customer Service week and as a company we really want to show our customers how important they are to us.'
The organisation encourages its employees to support community and charitable organisations allowing them time every year to support causes close to their hearts.
Make My Day runs during Customer Service Week – from October 2-6 – as the aim is to make as many people's days as possible, in as many different ways as possible.
From gifts and trips away for people to our employees giving their time to support community projects and giving donations, there are lots of different surprises planned for each day in different locations all across the North East and the Essex and Suffolk areas.
