If 2015 was the year of promises for our town, then 2016 is the year Lowestoft expects things to be delivered.
Prime minister David Cameron pledged in 2015 that the coastal resort would get its long-awaited third crossing, with an announcement on funding expected in this year's Budget. We have also been told that temporary flood defences will be ready for use in 2016 and that preparations will be made for a huge growth in the offshore wind industry, after it was announced hundreds of jobs will be based here.
Yet with so many previous broken promises, some in Lowestoft may be forgiven for not believing the pledges made until they see them. Waveney MP Peter Aldous has called 2016 'a real year of delivery for Waveney' - and it is certainly a year in which our town expects past promises to come good.
