HUNDREDS of people in Waveney have made heartfelt personal dedications in memory of their loved ones while helping raise hundreds of pounds to support those suffering from cancer.
In the lead-up to Christmas, The Journal teamed up with Macmillan Cancer Support for its annual Tree of Life appeal, which allows people to make a dedication in memory of someone they hold dear.
Once again, every light on the tree – located above the entrance to Palmers department store in Lowestoft town centre – was dedicated to someone in return for a donation of at least £2.
Fund-raising for the appeal began when Lowestoft town centre's festive lights were switched on at the end of November and ran until early January. And this week, the Lowestoft Macmillan Support fund-raising committee announced that more than £2,000 had been raised to support the charity's work.
The full list of names submitted as part of the 2012 Tree of Life appeal will be published in The Journal this Friday (February 8), along with the final sum raised, and a message of thanks from local Macmillan fund-raisers.
