In spite of attendance being lower than usual, those of us present made a strong effort to enjoy ourselves. Graham started off the evening with a rousing song of Invergordon Distillers which encouraged the audience to vent their lungs.
In spite of attendance being lower than usual, those of us present made a strong effort to enjoy ourselves. Graham started off the evening with a rousing song of Invergordon Distillers which encouraged the audience to vent their lungs. A good start. It was lovely to hear songs from all over the world, not just folklore from the U.K. Jim sang a song 'Sailing Nelson Home' which had us all spellbound and when John and Maggie sung 'Just a Name on the Wall,' a heartfelt tribute to a mother and her dead soldier son, all of us could relate to the words. Our visitor this week, Stuart, lives in Kent but he had lived and attended college in Lowestoft. He treated us to some powerful songs that we could all sing along to and they were much appreciated. The next meeting is at Crown Street Hall (entrance on Factory Street) on July 31, 2009 from 8 pm and we welcome everyone to either perform or just listen.
