WHILE we share Philip Moore's sentiments that former Waveney District Council employee Patricia Botson will be missed (Letters January 9), we would take exception to some of the assertions he makes about her departure.
WHILE we share Philip Moore's sentiments that former Waveney District Council employee Patricia Botson will be missed (Letters January 9), we would take exception to some of the assertions he makes about her departure.
To be absolutely clear Patricia, like others, volunteered to take redundancy and it is completely untrue to suggest that she, or anyone else for that matter, was unwillingly 'removed' during this process.
A voluntary redundancy programme is exactly what it says. It allows staff the opportunity to apply to leave an organisation's employment, should they wish, and benefit from the terms of the redundancy process.
No-one was asked to apply and decisions lay entirely with each individual member of staff. Patricia chose to take voluntary redundancy and Mr Moore's assertion that this is not the case is unfounded and untrue.
