OVERNIGHT closures are planned for Mutford Lock Bridge in Lowestoft next week.
Mutford Lock Bridge, on the A1117, will be closed in the early hours of next Tuesday, January 13 and Wednesday, January 14 for essential maintenance works between midnight and 6am.
The two night closures are needed to ensure that the bridge operates effectively following the replacement of electrical and mechanical components in the lifting mechanism. This will cut the time taken to lift the bridge and reduce queuing time for traffic.
The county council has liaised with both the Highways Agency and the Association of British Ports to ensure these closures do not clash with the closures of the A12 Bascule Bridge.
The advised alternative route will be via Victoria Road/Waveney Drive, Horn Hill/Belvedere Road/Pier Terrace/Lowestoft Bascule Bridge, Denmark Hill, Peto Way and Normanston Drive.
