THE 10-year-old whose cycle was hit at the bottom of Bloodmoor Road recently was very lucky indeed. As I understand it she did everything right. The sole cause of this unfortunate incident was the inattentive actions of the hit and run driver, who if caught should be severely punished.

As I understand it she did everything right. The sole cause of this unfortunate incident was the inattentive actions of the hit and run driver, who if caught should be severely punished.
All laws appertaining to motoring offences, mobile phone usage etc should be strictly adhered to and monitored.
Another contributing cause of the incident could be the conglomeration of traffic at the Bloodmoor roundabout approaching the crossing involved.
If two drivers approach this roundabout side, as was seen recently, and both try to enter Bloodmoor Road at the same time the concentration is on each others manoeuvre and not where it should be on the crossing. This is, and always has been, a very dangerous area.
I think one of the main reasons for this is ignorance of the Highway Code regarding the correct navigation of roundabouts.
Nobody seems to know the correct procedure.
