I SHOULD like to thank readers who kindly donated to our Christmas without cruelty stall and street collection in Halesworth on December 1 with a total of £75.72 raised towards the work of Hillside Animal Sanctuary, in Norfolk, which rescues farm animals and investigates abuses in the factory farm.
On a very cold morning we had support from people who took Christmas recipes for a meal without turkey, chicken, duck or goose.
We encouraged the purchase of free-range, preferably organic birds.
You can buy "faux turkey", a delicious alternative, available from many health shops and supermarkets. There are abundant vegetarian recipes via the following websites or telephone numbers: www.viva.org.uk 0117 944 1000, www.animalaid.org.uk 01732 364546 or www.Redwoodfoods.co.uk
