Parents and carers have less than a week to secure a place for their child at their preferred primary school.

Anyone in Suffolk with children born between September 1, 2018 and August 31, 2019, who are due to start primary school from September 2023, can apply.

Parents and carers have until Sunday, January 15 to submit an application to secure their child’s place at a primary, infant or junior school for September this year.

An application for a full-time school place must be made even if a child is already attending a nursery class in an infant or primary school, a pre-school or a family hub next to a school site.

Applications should be made online so that parents and carers receive confirmation.

Last year, Suffolk County Council offered 95.6pc of children a place at their first choice primary school.

Applications made after the closing date may not be dealt with until after places have been offered to those who applied on time.
