Eighties fans are in for a treat as a hit stage show described as 'Live Aid meets Top of the Pops' sweeps into Lowestoft.

80s Mania is a hit-packed production featuring tributes to 28 chart-topping musicians from that decade including Kim Wilde, Duran Duran, Adam Ant, Boy George, Wham, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and more.

The artists are recreated to look and sound as they did back in the day with a full live band, dancers, lasers and light design combined with a video projection.

Producers Vikki Holland-Bowyer and Greg Stevenson promised back-combed hair, shoulder pads, neon-leggings, leotards, double denim and 24/7 sunglasses.

They also said that 80s Mania features something for everyone.

Ms Holland-Bowyer said: “It’s broader in its range of music than your widest shoulder pads, standing stiletto-heels-like head and shoulders above the rest.

"We promise a show bigger than the biggest hair the Eighties had to offer. . . catch 80s Mania – it’s sweeping the nation.

She added: “It’s totally unique. Audiences take the time to prepare and dress as their favourite pop stars, reliving the childhood memories that the 80s helped make so unforgettable.

“Hen parties, stag nights, school reunions, office parties, couples and groups all come along to have a good night out, reminisce, sing, dance and clap along to their favourite Eighties tunes.”

The show has been endorsed by Mike Read, who was a Radio 1 breakfast DJ during the 80s, as being “like Live Aid meets Top of the Pops”.

80s Mania will be at the Marina Theatre, Lowestoft, on Saturday, February 25, at 7.30pm.

Tickets can be purchased from marinatheatre.co.uk or by calling the Box Office on 01502 533200.

Other upcoming shows at the Marina Theatre include Arthur Miller's play 'The Crucible' as part of National Theatre Live on February 1, an Evening of Burlesque on February 3, and a celebration of the music of Whitney Houston called 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody' from February 4 to 8.

Last year, the theatre was awarded £3.5m for redevelopment.
