Wreaths are set to be laid as special ceremonies commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day in Lowestoft.
A special service of remembrance will take centre stage inside The Parcels Office at Lowestoft Railway Station tomorrow (Friday, January 27) morning, before a new Holocaust memorial day 'Peace bench' is unveiled tomorrow afternoon in Kensington Gardens.
All are welcome to attend the two events organised by Lowestoft Town Council to mark Holocaust Memorial Day and to remember the lives lost and affected by genocides around the world.
Holocaust Memorial Day 2023 starts at 10am inside The Parcels Office at Lowestoft Railway Station - near to where hundreds of young Jewish refugees had arrived in 1938.
The service of remembrance will highlight this year's theme of 'Ordinary People' as it includes short readings from schoolchildren and talks followed by the laying of wreaths.
The Parcels Office is being used with kind permission from the Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership and the Lowestoft Central Project.
A new Holocaust Memorial Day 'Peace Bench' will be unveiled at Kensington Gardens at 1.30pm, ahead of a short ceremony.
