Scores of scouts went on the run as an annual event made a welcome return.

About 30 youngsters representing Scout groups from across the Lowestoft district tackled a challenging course on Saturday.

Youngsters from 4th Lowestoft, 14th Lowestoft, 1st Oulton Broad, 1st Pakefield and 2nd Carlton Colville scout troops and the District Explorer Unit took part in the annual Lowestoft District Fun Run.

Staged at the Scouts Herringfleet Campsite, it was led by ADC Scouts Richard Brabben and supported by Chris Pimlot and Mike from the Waveney Valley Athletic Club.

Mr Brabben said: "The perfect weather conditions allowed for some excellent running and keenly contested events."

The U12s 2km race was won by Freddie Thurston (4th Lowestoft) with the runner up Logan-Jon Welson (14th Lowestoft).

The winning U12 team was 4th Lowestoft with 14th Lowestoft, 1st Pakefield and 2nd Carlton Colville all tied in second place.

The U14 3km event was won by Nathan Wren (2nd Carlton Colville) with Max Spurgeon (1st Pakefield) runner up.

The winning U14 team was 1st Pakefield with 14th Lowestoft second.

The Explorer 4km event was won by Toby Rayment with Euan Harbord second.
