As East Suffolk Council prepares for its second election as a unified authority next week, East Suffolk Liberal Democrats has unveiled its candidates and campaign for the district elections.

They have announced that 25 candidates will be standing in the Waveney ward seats for East Suffolk Council across Lowestoft, Carlton Colville, Wrentham, Westleton and Wangford.

As voting takes place next Thursday, May 4 across the district, for the first time people who go to polling stations will have to show photographic identification before being given ballot papers.

With the local Liberal Democrat Group standing on ensuring that the East Suffolk Local Plan is refocused onto affordable housing for local families and individuals, focusing on tackling climate change and ensuring that the local economy is sustainable for both businesses and employees, they have been out campaigning in several areas - including Carlton Colville.

The local candidates for the Carlton Colville, Mutford and Gisleham areas said that "anti-social behaviour needs to be tackled" and the flooding issues which are blighting Carlton Colville need to be addressed.

Adam Robertson said: "It is a pleasure to stand for Carlton Colville, where I have lived for the last 18 years.

"I hope that I am privileged enough to get elected onto the District Council, and be the effective representative what Carlton Colville deserves."

Chris Thomas added: "Each of the communities within Carlton Colville, Gisleham and Mutford need representation.

"We can provide the representation what all the areas need, and to help tackle issues such as the increase in anti-social behaviour within the area, and also the flooding issues which keep happening in Carlton Colville."

The candidates will be facing Conservative, Labour and Green rivals across the wards.
