Chair of the Lowestoft Players and director of the production Nick Garrod said: "Elf is going to be an amazing pre-festive treat for all the family.

"We can’t wait to welcome audiences to our theatre to see it."

But before the production is staged, the cast must be found - with the search now under way for one of the main characters, Michael.

Michael is the brother of Elf - and two young versatile male actors/singers are required to perform this role, as they will be on stage for alternate performances.

The actors must have a playing age of 12 years and have an unbroken voice at the time of the production.

As well as being on stage acting and singing with other cast members, Michael will have a duet with his mother Emily, "I Believe in You."

The young performers playing Michael will also briefly appear on stage to play a second character visiting Santa at Macy’s.

Auditions for Michael will be held at the Players Theatre on Friday, May 12, with registration at 6pm.

Rehearsals will take place during July to September, mainly early evening.

Closer to the show they will also be held on Sunday afternoons.

Mr Garrod added: "It’s never too early to think about Christmas.

"And this is going to be a wonderful, if not cheesy seasonal production!"
