Staff and residents at a care home are in a patriotic mood as they participated in a series of fun activities in the lead-up to the coronation of King Charles III.

The Dell, a care home in Lowestoft, says it is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that its residents enjoy a memorable experience in the lead-up to the historic celebration.

Starting the preparations early, the home organised a series of activities and events that began a few weeks ago.

Residents started by making Union Jack flags, badges and bows — while also creating photo props to add a sense of humour to the pictures and memories.

June Collen, a resident at the home, reflected on the last coronation in 1953 and spoke about her memories of the late Queen.

She said: “I liked Elizabeth II, she was just like me with hats and dresses – and people used to call me Queenie.

"I’m looking forward to the next celebrations and dressing up in red, white and blue.”

The activities team also plan to take residents on a reminiscent journey through King Charles' history and test their knowledge of his life with a fun and interactive quiz.

Daphne Graves, manager at The Dell, said: "We’re excited to be celebrating with our residents and it's lovely to hear all their stories and memories of the Royal Family over the years.

"Our activities team has put together a fantastic lineup of events that will help make this occasion truly special for everyone involved.”
