From a dining room table in South Africa, to a commercial showroom in Corton, near Lowestoft - an interior designer’s "incredible journey" has been celebrated.

Interior designer Audrey Mayberry, from Simple Touch Designs, said it was her "passion" to make houses into homes, or hotels and B&Bs into experiences.

Having first worked as a fabric rep with fabrics and textures on the small dining room table where she lived with her mother and father in Johannesburg, South Africa, Simple Touch Designs opened in March 2015.

Using her skills to help transform furniture and upholstery, as her talent and popularity grew Ms Mayberry's own unique designs and creations were created after upgrading to a wooden shed in the garden.

And within a year the journey continued after Ms Mayberry secured a showroom to display her works and offerings.

But with it came increasing anxiety of the dangers she faced on a daily basis - including robbery and hijack - and so Ms Mayberry took a "huge step" and moved to England for a better life.

So, in 2021 she left her family in Johannesburg and moved to Oulton Broad with her partner.

Ms Mayberry set up a small showroom in Corton and has successfully gained high-end clients, employing local designers and project managers in transforming holiday homes, commercial properties, residential homes and retail spaces all over the UK.

She said: "I really love what I do, it is truly my passion to make houses into homes, or hotels and B&Bs into experiences.

"Interior design should leave you with a feeling of calm and pure joy when you walk in, it’s hard to explain but you know it when you just feel it.

"I love the concept, of something magical being created from a client's idea to becoming the reality.

"I love the colours, patterns and textiles and then bring them to life."

Simple Touch Design offers consultations either at their showroom in Corton, or you can request a home visit.
