A series of new activities have been announced for a Lowestoft group where men can meet and make friends as they discuss their mental health and wellbeing.

Lowestoft Library’s Men Can Talk groups offer friendly and relaxed drop-in sessions where men can make friends and talk in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

The sessions run every Monday at Lowestoft Library from 6pm to 8pm and are being run with support from East Suffolk Council.

Some special summer activities have been arranged with the aim of engaging with new members over the next few weeks.

The events are:

Friday, June 9 – Your Needs Met session with Suffolk Mind from 1pm to 4.30pm.

This session is on a different day to the usual regular group meeting. The session will be led by someone from Suffolk Mind and will help attendees to understand the physical and emotional needs that everyone has.

Organisers say the session is a great way of helping people to understand their own mental health and wellbeing. Booking is required for this session.

Monday, June 12  at 4pm – A local history talk with the Royal Naval Patrol Association.

Friday, 23 June at 4pm – Jack’s Ashes, a play written and performed by Tim Marriott of Smoke Screen Productions.

Former professional cricketer Jack gives his team talk, but as wickets fall like a ticking time bomb the anecdotes from the ashes of his career prove less than inspirational.

Monday, June 26 - Pies and Movie Night. The group is planning to make pies before the screening of a film. Any suggestions for what to watch are very welcome from anyone keen to come along.

Anyone aged over 18 interested in the group should contact the library if they are interested in coming along to the events or any sessions.
