Two enthusiastic regulars at Beccles Lido will soon be making a fundraising splash to support the venue.

Sue McLachlan and Simon Everett, both from Oulton Broad, will be facing a chilly challenge later this month - as the intrepid duo swap the pool's heated warmth for a dip in Cumbria's Lake Coniston.

The regulars at the lido swimming pool in Puddingmoor, Beccles, will join other hardy swimmers for the 10th anniversary of the Aquasphere Chillswim at Cumbria's Lake Coniston on June 24.

Facing a 5.25-mile endurance test to raise money for the lido - a registered charity, which is dependant on funds to maintain and improve the facilities for the local community - they described the pool as "a friendly environment providing benefits for both accomplished swimmers and those simply seeking to improve their health and well-being".

They were also keen to thank the volunteers who give their time to keep the pool functioning at a time of rising costs.
