For an easy two-mile walk, start at Melford Country Park, and head south along the River Stour.

This old railway route is well-trodden. Keeping the river to your left, you will pass the Brundon Water Mill and cross the water meadows before arriving at your pub destination.

2. The Butt & Oyster, Ipswich

The Butt & Oyster is located right on the River Orwell and has an excellent reputation for its food and local beer selection.

Start your walk at the Butt and Oyster, where you can park, before heading through the wooded area with the River Orwell on your left. Explore the heathland and acid grassland by Butterman's Bay, before heading back to the pub for a well-deserved stop.

3. The Ramsholt Arms, Woodbridge

This river-side pub is particularly popular amongst locals for its enviable selection of fresh seafood dishes.

Park up at the Ramsholt Arms. Walking with the River Deben on your left will be a peaceful ramble, but the more experienced walkers may decide to walk to the mouth of the river, to Bawdsey Manor. Head back to the pub for a drink and to watch the sun go down.

4. The Westleton Crown, Westleton

Westleton is nestled just outside of Dunwich, the popular seaside location for its lengthy sandy beaches. This pub itself is on the edge of a quintessential village green.

Park at Dunwich and head along Dunwich Road for the most direct route to The Westleton Crown. This passes through the Westleton Heath National Nature Reserve on a two-and-a-half-mile jaunt. Rest up on their terrace for a drink or some food before heading back through the nature reserve to Dunwich to dip your tired toes in the beach.

5. The Dennington Queen, Dennington

And last but not least, the Dennington Queen is an increasingly popular destination. Nestled just around the corner from singer Ed Sheeran's country estate, it boasts lovely pub gardens and a diverse food and drink menu.

Surrounded by luscious fields, there are plenty of random routes that walkers can take advantage of from the Dennington Queen. However, some may choose to walk to Saxtead Green Post Mill for a glance at the 13th-century corn mill.
